Retreat theme: How place shapes identity

Are you looking for time to devote to your writing?

Interested in building community with other writers?

Eager for feedback on your writing?

Looking to learn techniques to take your writing to the next level?

If any of these ideas resonate, then this retreat is for you!

During the last week of July 2023, eight eager writers will gather daily with Writing Coach & Author Lynne Golodner on the Atlantic Ocean an hour south of Halifax, Nova Scotia, for an intimate week of writing, workshopping, community and connection. Lynne creates a magical setting in which writing just happens. Experience the camaraderie, community, and connection of deep writing, exploration with words, and elevation of your craft under the guidance and care of a well-published career author!

Immersed in the retreat theme — how place shapes identity fiction writers will look at how place and setting can become a character, and nonfiction writers will explore how place informs, shapes, and impacts identity for the self and those involved in their stories. Of course, both of these approaches apply for poetry!

Retreat fees include breakfast and lunch, plus a final night celebratory dinner and reading around the fire; generative writing prompts; lessons on craft; workshopping participants’ writing in a supportive community setting; and exploration of how to take your writing to the next level and make it your career.

Optional excursions will be available for writers who’d like to see the area and learn more about the landscape. Accommodations are on your own, with many options in nearby Lunenburg, which is 4 km from the retreat location. (Book early – this is a popular destination!)

Lunenburg, Nova Scotia is a UNESCO World Heritage site, where 70% of the original colonial buildings date to the 18th and 19th centuries.
