I love living outside the box.
I’ve always had a mind of my own and a voice to match it. That means there are times when I am not the most popular but I can live with that because I know what’s in my heart. I don’t follow crowds and I’m not beaten into submission by insecure others.
When it comes to business, these are great skills.
I am in the process of redesigning my business website (www.yourppl.com) and today I went through three potential designs with my graphic designer, Clay Carpenter. (His company is HUI Designs.) He gave me three options, one of which was really, really different from any website I am familiar with.
I chose that one.
At first, it seemed so different that I thought it could be overwhelming or off-putting to visitors.
But then I thought: who cares? Shouldn’t we shake things up, especially if I’m in the business of building business? Attracting attention? Making people think?
Everybody does things according to the status quo. They don’t stand out from the crowd. They plod along and do their best and eke out an existence.
I’m willing to shoot for greatness. And greatness does not come from doing the same old thing.
Here’s a snapshot of what the website will eventually look like. I can’t explain to you here how it’s going to work, but trust me when I say it’s going to be an exciting departure from the norm.
I believe you’ll like it when you visit. And for those who might consider it foreign or weird or different, I’ll hold your hand through it.
Change is good. As long as we’re open to it.
