For the longest time, though, Lynne didn’t believe that “writer” could be her primary professional identity. She spent 15 years working as a journalist in New York, Washington, D.C., and Detroit, earned an MFA in Poetry from Goddard College, and taught writing at universities around the world. In 2007, she created YOUR PEOPLE LLC, a marketing company that uses storytelling to promote and build organizations, and she’s worked with creative entrepreneurs, nonprofits, universities and Waldorf schools, and authors, helping them build their brands and market their books.

Although she wrote and published 8 books between 1996 and 2013 (2 poetry collections + 6 nonfiction titles, published traditionally), it wasn’t until midlife that Lynne made writing her primary focus. She shrank her business and ramped up her teaching, writing coaching and writing retreats. Pledging to write a book a year for the rest of her life, Lynne has written at least 1 award-winning book every year since September 2023 and edited anthologies of writing by writers around the world, all produced by Scotia Road Books, Lynne’s publishing imprint for authors over 40 with strong voices that need to be heard.

Lynne writes 5 mornings a week, and spends afternoons teaching and guiding clients. She helps writers in a variety of ways, all of which you can find here. She has degrees from the University of Michigan and Goddard College, plus a Certificate in Entrepreneurship from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at Wayne State University. She’s also the mother of four pretty incredible young adults, and she lives in the Detroit suburbs with her husband Dan.
