Exploring Jewish Identity through Creative Writing: a Rosh Hodesh Workshop for Women with Lynne Golodner

Jewish identity and heritage are not easily articulated, but the tactile rituals of our faith lend themselves to vivid writing and identity exploration. Author and Writing Coach Lynne Golodner invites women to come together around Rosh Hodesh, the new Jewish month which is typically associated with gatherings of women and a poetic connection with the moon. We’ll explore symbolism and faith in Judaism through writing to prompts and inspired by beautiful readings that we’ll consider together. These writing workshops will happen monthly on the Sunday closest to Rosh Hodesh. It’s free to attend and open to any women in the Detroit Jewish community. Registration is required. Participants do not need any prior writing experience to participate – just a desire to explore topics of Jewish identity and engage in meaningful conversation with other Jewish women. Beth Shalom Torah Fund Sisterhood Event

Lynne Golodner will be the featured speaker at Congregation Beth Shalom’s Sisterhood Torah Fund event. The event is open to women who have made donations to Women’s League’s Torah Fund, and anyone who is willing to make a minimum $18 donation to the synagogue’s Torah Fund is welcome. The program will include an introductory speaker associated with Jewish Theological Seminary, followed by Lynne Golodner speaking about her writing career and background, the process of writing and publishing her novel, WOMAN OF VALOR, and more. There will also be time for questions, followed by dessert.
